Healthy Acadia
Project Summary
Partners across Hancock and Washington counties, Maine, will implement the Downeast Communities Opioid Response Program (DCORP) to address and reduce morbidity and mortality of substance use disorders, particularly opioid use disorder, in easternmost Maine. Led by a multi-sector, two-county consortium, DCORP will expand and enhance critical prevention, treatment, and recovery activities and responses across the continuum of care. This project deploys evidence-based and best-practice programs and methods that will significantly and positively impact the widespread community-wide trauma inflicted by the opioid epidemic’s continued corrosive effect on rural Maine individuals and families. This builds on intensive work completed over the past several years to strengthen the recovery and response network, assess community needs, develop plans, and implement multiple initiatives to address the crisis. The activities of DCORP maximize the vast expertise, experience, needs, and locally-driven priorities of the partners throughout Washington and Hancock counties.
