Project Summary
The Rural Integrated System Alliance (RISA) consortium was formed to reduce the morbidity and mortality association with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) in Southeast Missouri. RISA’s overarching goal is to decrease rural death rates and the burden on rural health systems by expanding OUD treatment, recovery, and prevention services in the catchment area. The counties that comprise the catchment area are Mississippi, New Madrid, and Scott. They are each 100% rural. Overall, these rural counties are plagued with poverty, unemployment, poor health care systems, workforce shortages and which cultivates a concentration of populations at risk for OUD.
