Cook Inlet Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse
Project Summary
Our agency, in conjunction with stakeholders in education, community health and wellness, and the justice system will strengthen and expand SUD/OUD prevention, treatment, and recovery services to enhance rural residents’ ability to access treatment and move towards recovery. We will expand prevention by increasing and supporting the use of school- and community-based prevention programs that are culturally and linguistically appropriate, implementing year-round drug buy-back programs and provide training and access to naloxone, and training and strengthening collaboration with and between law enforcement and first responders by providing training to help Identify/screen individuals at risk for SUD/OUD, and those who have infections or complications. We will strengthen treatment by reducing barriers to treatment, by supporting integrated treatment and recovery and by enabling individuals, families, and caregivers to find, access and navigate evidence-based, affordable treatment for SUD/OUD. We will improve our recovery system by enhancing discharge coordination for people leaving inpatient treatment facilities and/or the criminal justice system and supporting the development of recovery communities, recovery coaches, and recovery community organizations.
