Augusta University Research Institute
Project Summary
The Comprehensive Opioid Program in Northeast Georgia (COPiNG) provides a comprehensive approach to addressing SUD/OUD in 9 HRSA-designated rural counties in Northeast Georgia. The consortium includes Augusta University’s Department of Population Health Sciences and the Institute of Public and Preventive Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center serving patients in the target counties, the Georgia Council on Substance Abuse, and Elbert Partners for Health. We address core areas of Prevention, Treatment and Recovery through community-based and provider education/training, expansion of services within the FQHC including screening and brief intervention services, primary-care based behavioral therapy and medication-assisted treatment, and the development of peer-led recovery communities. We also train providers on MAT and offer guidance to newly waivered providers.
