Project Summary
Unison Behavioral Health (UBH)- RCORP Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health (CABH) goals are to address critical prevention, treatment and recovery needs of children and adolescents in three counties in its catchment area: Atkinson, Clinch and Coffee Counties in rural southeast Georgia. The target rural population is children and adolescents between the ages of 5-17 living in rural Clinch, Coffee & Atkinson Counties, which are designated 100% rural by HRSA. Project goals include -purchasing a mobile health van to provide more accessible and flexible behavioral health counseling to children and adolescents at more convenient and welcoming locations and in a comfortable, trauma-informed environment.•implementing a afterschool program in Coffee County in year one and one additional county prior to the end of grant funding; -Implementing evidence-based Community Resiliency Model (CRM) training for community members in the target area; -Developing two archivable continuing education webinars to train primary care providers, pediatricians and other clinicians on mental health/substance use disorder screening, pharmacology and provide support for referrals -establishing at least one recovery program for children and adolescents within the target area; -Etablishing a referral process with local hospitals for children/youth admitted to the ED with an overdose diagnosis and developing a system to follow up with referred children and youth. -Training for clinicians, paraprofessionals and community members will be implemented including training to reduce stigma related to SUD/OUD and behavioral health, as well as training on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Teen Mental Health First Aid (TMHFA), community resiliency model and other evidence-based training.
