Addiction Policy Forum invites you to a webinar with Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and Dr. Nora Volkow, Director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), about the intersection of the disease of addiction and the COVID-19 pandemic. Topics covered will include the impact on people with substance use disorders, the latest on vaccinations, and the unique challenges that the pandemic has presented for people in recovery.
People with substance use disorders have been encouraged to take extra precautions during the coronavirus pandemic. Health officials have warned that those with an addiction–particularly opioid and methamphetamine use disorders–and those who smoke or vape nicotine or marijuana may be more vulnerable to developing severe symptoms if they contract COVID-19.
