Sustaining Recovery Support Services During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Posted 8/27/2020 (updated 9/2/2021)

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the lives of everyone, including people in recovery from substance use and opioid use disorders (SUD/OUD). Social distancing requirements and limits on the number of people who can congregate have been implemented. As a result, many in-person support groups cannot meet, removing for now an important aspect of recovery maintenance. (JBS) is helping grantees, clinicians, peer support specialists, people in recovery, and family members and allies of people in recovery to connect with digital recovery supports. This RCORP News Brief addresses the following topics:

  • Digital Recovery Support Services Landscape
  • Ethics, Privacy, and Anonymity
  • Need for Safe In-Person Outreach
