Preventing Burnout and Improving Resilience in Hospital-Based Addiction Medicine Professionals

There are systemic barriers in hospital-based addiction medicine that can lead to symptoms of burnout among medical professionals. The qualitative study highlights these factors that may contribute to burnout and provides some feedback on how to work towards minimizing this for providers. Many participants in the study find that being a provider in the hospital addiction consultation field is rewarding, but they face many challenges. This study connects improving the factors that lead to burnout and the well-being of providers to the improved care of patients with substance use disorders.
