Pharmacotherapy of Opioid Use Disorder

In Pharmacotherapy of Opioid Use Disorder, Dr. John Brooklyn:

  1. Provided a historical/social/cultural review of opioids, to include legal and regulatory milestones in the United States,
  2. Reviewed biological effects of opioid use, misuse, and addiction, including a discussion of withdrawal, overdose, morbidity, and mortality,
  3. Summarized opioid use disorder treatment options and the evidence base for medication-assisted treatment (MAT),
  4. Described service delivery models for implementation of MAT and
  5. Provided a forum of discussion of salient barriers and facilitators RCORP grantees may encounter and strategies for success.

In the second session, Dr. Brooklyn facilitated a Q&A and discussion drawing on the information provided in the Pharmacotherapy of Opioid Use Disorder presentation and applying it to the barriers and facilitators facing RCORP grantees.
